Increment versus sudden death in the habit cards

10+0 and 10+5 are not the same time control. Flagging in sudden death is a clock habit. Flagging with increment is usually a think-too-long habit. Do not average them.

Split games with increment from games without it before you read a time-trouble card. Chessigma should not treat a Bronstein finish as a zero-increment panic.

The last two minutes differ

With increment you can still calculate. Without it you are premoving. Those errors look the same on a PGN and are not the same leak.

Name the control on the card

If the headline says you flag, it should also say 15+0. A mixed bucket is how you drill the wrong fix.

Frequently asked questions

Is 3+2 blitz or bullet?

Blitz with increment. Keep it out of 1+0. Keep it out of 10+0 too.

What if my site labels both as rapid?

Believe the clock, not the label. Filter on minutes and increment.
